Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dhamma Talk - Where Ethics Meets Politics - with Ajahn Sujato
Q: I'm wondering how you would suggest people tackle issues of woke culture in a skillful way while maintaining friendships?
The speaker emphasizes equal rights and personal connections as the most influential means of change, suggesting compassionate dialogue and real-life relationships as more impactful than arguments alone.
Retreat Finding Freedom - Sutta Teaching by Ajahn Brahm
Q: Ajahn, can I ask a question because we have a few more minutes. Other people will get to ask this evening. I'm curious as to why your translation of Vinaya, which is supposed to be Vinaya, which means the training and restraint, why you've translated that as suppress rather than restraint.
Yes, it is Vinaya, suppress, weaken, lessen its power and its intensity. And you will recognize that word in another context, the Pali word that is used in the Satipaṭṭhāna prerequisites. Suppress means to lessen the power of the hindrances rather than simply restrain them, because suppression is achieved through wisdom and practice, not force.
Dhamma Talk - The Benefit of Silent Retreat
Q: What are the most important things to prepare before a longer retreat?
Prepare by maintaining regular practice, communicating with others about the retreat, obtaining blessings, and avoiding over-preparation or rigid expectations; approach the retreat with openness, gentleness, and respect for one's body and mind.
Dhamma Talk - The Benefit of Silent Retreat
Q: How is Jhana an act of kindness, and how do spiritual friends in Jhana influence others on retreat?
The host responds that witnessing deeper meditation and practice is itself a form of kindness, as it inspires others and blesses the retreat space; personal practice in Jhana radiates energy that benefits the whole community.
Dhamma Talk - The Benefit of Silent Retreat
Q: Could you please share the name or a contact of the non-violent activist organization you've talked about?
The speaker explained that a specific organization wasn't named and suggested researching nonviolent activist groups like Extinction Rebellion; emphasized not endorsing any single group publicly during the talk and encouraged attendees to do their own research.
