  • Too partnered/family centric!

    Good guided meditations.

However, the monks of BSWA seems to think that all lay Buddhist have partners, kids etc, leading to an oversimplification of lay life and only offering examples that partnered lay Buddhists can relate to (“your partner, your kids, your mother-in-law” etc). Ajahn Brahm is particularly guilty of this. There isn’t a single lay dharma talk where he doesn’t mention marriage etc. This leads to a dumbing down of the lay dharma (addressing the masses only aka the lowest common ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Waiting for Peace to Show Up | Venerable Acala | The Armadale Meditation Group
Q: Why is there gender separation in monasteries, and is it necessary in modern practice?
Different monasteries serve different needs and preferences; separation supports celibacy and safety for many practitioners, though there are multi-gender or inclusive communities elsewhere; diversity in monastic forms allows people to find environments that fit their path.
Waiting for Peace to Show Up | Venerable Acala | The Armadale Meditation Group
Q: How does one balance making the space comfortable in meditation with accepting the discomfort that inevitably arises in practice?
Aim for the middle path of comfort while recognizing when pain is due to the body or mind; adjust as needed, but cultivate acceptance and gentleness rather than resistance, using the Eightfold Path as a guiding framework.
Just Being There | Ajahn Sampasadana | The Armadale Meditation Group
Q: How do you transcend self-view?
By recognizing that the self is a useful navigation tool but becomes problematic when taken as an absolute reality; through mindfulness and presence we learn to see it as a construct and gradually disidentify from it, allowing clearer perception and less reactivity.
We are All the Same | Ajahn Mudito | 24 April 2026
Q: What is a good way to develop patience, make it stronger and last longer, to endure pain better and carry that into life?
Patience grows by looking into your own mind and understanding that resistance to waiting is itself a form of suffering; gradually one becomes more patient through non-judgmental awareness and enduring mental discomfort with kindness toward oneself.
Insight | Ajahn Brahm | 17 April 2026
Q: How can I carry the peace of meditation into day-to-day life?
Maintain mindfulness after meditation by treating ordinary activities with the same calm curiosity, allowing experiences to unfold without clinging to them.
