I have loved this podcast over the years, but increasingly, it just feels like yet another complaining session about anyone in the “out group”. It’s Buddhist in content, but Fox News in form… just a list of complaints about what the “most people” are doing wrong. Thay’s teachings felt like a gift of sight into something I could not yet grasp. This podcast increasingly feels just mired in a “we do it better than them” framework. I believe spirituality, even when encountering real world work, i... more
Of course I still love you guys, but really missing Phap Huu’s short meditations at the end. Please bring back!
I was used to listening to podcasts with dramatic stories. So initially I was not drawn to this podcast. But the more I listen, the more I realize how valuable these lessons taught by Thich Nhat Han are. They have changed my life for the better.
2 years ago i would have given this podcast 5 stars. However, I’ve noticed with great sadness that this has become a platform that is less about zen living and Buddhist teachings… and more about politics. Even if done indirectly and in a roundabout way. Last night I attended the live recording of the podcast in London, and this reached a limit when the guest speaker went as far as to say ‘Trump supporters don’t even know where Hawaii is’. With 1000 people attending there, I felt this event was a... more
This podcast is wonderfully informative and helpful when it sticks to Buddhism and the teachings of the Buddha, but when they stray into politics I just feel embarrassed for them and their Sangha. To think that they have the right view about trans kids (which is child abuse IMO), “climate change”, or Trump is both arrogant and ill informed. They need to get out of their political echo chamber or just stick to what they do best: Buddhism.
