  • Life changing

Joseph is knowledgeable, skilled and very relatable. His talks are well translated into modern life and I really appreciate that. He doesn’t shy away from explaining the complexity of concepts and the important definitional nuances that are often missed in translations. Without it, big concepts such as ‘consciousness’ and ‘self’ come across as riddles. I’m grateful these recordings are share via this app. Thanks to the team who have produce this! I listen to it every day.

  • Joseph's talks are gifts to humanity of estimable wealth. For me, these talks are causes of true happiness. I have seen enough of this world to know already what's happening and I feel no need whatsoever to listen to "the news you need to know". Happiness is: turning away from all of that and just listening to talks such as these.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 260 – The Union of Relative and Ultimate Truth
Q: For those facing life-limiting illness, how can Dharma practice help with the immediacy and intensity of grief?
Recognize that illness and aging are natural processes; practice daily reflections to reduce clinging, cultivate peace of mind, and understand that the mind can be at ease even when the body is afflicted. By integrating relative concerns with ultimate understanding, one can relate to suffering with clarity and compassion without identifying with it.
Ep. 258 – The Goal Without the Grasp: Aspiration in Buddhist Practice
Q: Is your faith strong in the Four Path Attainments as genuine markers on the path?
Yes, faith in the teachings of the Buddha leads to deep understanding and commitment.
Ep. 258 – The Goal Without the Grasp: Aspiration in Buddhist Practice
Q: Can you speak about the impersonal nature of all things along with a sense of purpose?
The sense of purpose seems personal until we see the impersonality of it.
Ep. 257 – Releasing the Knower: Equanimity and Awareness
Q: Is this making sense?
The framework of perceiving experiences as things being known rather than active subjects is indeed effective for practice and enhances selflessness.
Ep. 257 – Releasing the Knower: Equanimity and Awareness
Q: How do you differentiate genuine equanimity from nervous system shutdown or disassociation?
Genuine equanimity is characterized by impartiality and openness to all experiences, versus indifference which suggests withdrawal from engagement.
