Ancestral Kitchen is my all-time favorite podcast. This review is long overdue as I have been a fan for a while. There is so much noise in the online realm of nutrition and it often leaves me feeling confused, overwhelmed, and discouraged. This is not the case with Alison and Andrea. I not only learn new things with every episode, but I also feel encouraged, hopeful and inspired! I might have shouted out loud in the car when I heard the first Charlotte Mason quote on an episode. Combine that wit... more
I have always really enjoyed this podcast. Such interesting information and a point of view you don’t hear very often. However in the past 6 months or so one of the hosts has done solo episodes with other homesteaders and homeschooling mothers. These episodes have really rubbed me the wrong way and feel almost ridiculing of people who have different lifestyles and are part of the modern “system”. The tone is very off-putting and judgmental. If it weren’t for Allison I would have already unsubscr... more
I love this podcast. It relaxes me and reminds me to connect to myself when it comes to food and health. But y’all failed w Ben Greenfield. He was out of breath, rambled on, created such a sense of discomfort for the listeners. Yes, he gives great info but he’s hyperrrr masculine go go go go gooooo and that’s just not the vibe for this podcast. Eeeek I was so disappointed as I feel you’re both old friends and I look forward to this podcast more than any other each week. Strongly suggest you remo... more
I am a bulk, herbs, and local meats buyer at a small longstanding health food store in Connecticut . I've been a Sally Fallon devotee for 20 years, referring to my Nourishing Traditions book for methods and recipes often . SO happy to have found these two dedicated women to learn from and tune into to keep me inspired and SANE in these mightily chaotic times. I've learned TONS more !!! Thank you Allison and Andrea for creating a haven and community around these wise, healthful and grounding tr... more
I began listening to this podcast one year ago and in that time I have made 100% rye sourdough bread, sauerkraut, tibicos, liver, beef and lamb heart, and so much more, all for the first time. I love how practical you both are with clear steps we can take towards a more ancestral kitchen and lifestyle. It feels so much like I have you here with me in my kitchen cheering me on- Thank you for all of the love and care you have put into this podcast!

A twice-monthly show that centers on eating, cooking, and living with ancestral wisdom in modern kitchens. Hosts explore traditional cooking, nourishing whole foods, sourcing from local farms, fermentation, sourdough, and the cultural and spiritual dimensions of food. Episodes frequently emphasize practical how-tos, community food systems, and turning timeless kitchen practices into achievable, everyday routines. A notable strength is its warm, conversational tone that makes deep, sometimes countercultural ideas feel accessible, while highlighting local farming, sustainability, and nose-to-tail cooking as pathways to healthier families and communities.
