Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Home Run Applesauce in Conversation: Wayne Randazzo
Q: What stands out about broadcasting in New York compared to other markets?
Wayne notes the intense fan engagement and the sense that once you are part of the Mets family, you're always part of it, with a community that remains connected across generations.
Home Run Applesauce in Conversation: Wayne Randazzo
Q: When does your prep work start for a national broadcast compared to a local Mets game?
He describes a process of early, detailed prep a few days out, using research packets and articles, while knowing when to step back from day-to-day minutiae in a national broadcast.
Home Run Applesauce in Conversation: Wayne Randazzo
Q: How different is doing an Apple broadcast versus covering a team you follow day in and day out?
Wayne explains that Apple TV+ requires a broader, league-wide perspective with careful balance between storytelling and staying true to his teams, and that prep becomes more generalized yet still focused on main storylines.
Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, Episode 214: 82-77
Q: If the Mets clinch a playoff spot and it's meaningless because of that, what should they do for the last game?
If they clinch, they should let someone else make the start and avoid using their best pitchers for that last game.
Today Your Love, Tomorrow the World Series, Episode 214: 82-77
Q: Who of those three starting pitchers do you have the most faith in?
As long as the plug is pulled very quickly on either one, I think you'll have the best starting pitching performance from Brandon Sprote.
