Loving the variety, the knowledge, the insights, laughs & fun factor and so much more from these 2 legends … It’s more than “just talk” - it’s real, authentic, sometimes raw - if you listen, you will learn something new or a new perspective to take into your life … it’s my essential listening for my commute to work!

  • Wanted to like this one more than I did

Libby Trickett’s accomplishments in the pool were amazing and definitely drew me to this podcast. While I appreciate her honesty, I do not appreciate her bad language and gutter talk. Also, she comes across as a “fan girl” so much that I am starting to wonder if any of it is genuine. Hearing the life perspectives of former athletes is an interesting angle for a podcast. However, this podcast became a bit formulaic to me.

PLAY WELL: How Rana Hussain is rewriting the rules of Australian sports culture
Q: What changes do you hope to see in clubs and governing bodies to support belonging for diverse communities?
I hope clubs actively listen to communities, implement small, concrete inclusions like accessible attire and prayer spaces, and ensure spaces are welcoming so people can bring their full selves and contribute to a healthier, more diverse sporting culture.
PLAY WELL: How Rana Hussain is rewriting the rules of Australian sports culture
Q: Did you always feel like sport was accessible to you as a Muslim woman, and how did that evolve as you grew up?
No, there were strong cultural messages that sport wasn't for women, and practical barriers like modest clothing made it hard to participate; over time I learned to reframe sport as a space for belonging and advocacy, turning from a fan into a contributor and leader who helps shape a more inclusive environment.
