  • The Aussie Team’s future

Hey guys, I have been listening for a while now and love all the podcasts.

The Australian team is in a really weird spot with most our blokes on the back end of their time as bowlers and batters. As a suggestion, why keep all these blokes in for the final test when we have already one the series. Keep the essential players but anyone else, sub them in for younger blokes like Todd Murphy, Cooper Connolly, Nathan Mcsweeney etc. let them show the older blokes and the selectors what they have to o... more

  • What would Sunny say?

When Steve Smith got out and Kerry came in and Cameron Green got out it was beginning to look like there was gonna be a calamity of wickets. Cameron Greens wicked was very much a soft dismissal. Playing like a millionaire. But it was entertaining. Can you have both at the same time?

  • Leaving, now

I recently returned to listening to this podcast - around the start of the 2025-26 Test series between Australia and England. The smugness/arrogance of Ed Cowan had previously bothered me a bit - but I was generally prepared to tolerate it, as I was appreciating Ed Cowan’s insights. However, after listening to the November 2025 “live” episode recorded in a pub in inner Sydney, I don’t think I can take any more of Ed Cowan. In the pub setting, the smugness/arrogance became even more obvious - a... more

  • Love the Pod

Love the pod guys! Keep making the ashes race to open numbers as it give me a real idea of who stands a chance in the ashes. What about the cricket in Canada. Do you believe in the 10 over tournaments in America and other countries who don’t traditionally play cricket?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

If cricket is for sale, what do the players think?
Q: Do the players feel heard in these negotiations and is there a sense of how much consensus there is?
The ACA confirms regular engagement with Cricket Australia and state bodies, noting progress but acknowledging the negotiations are far from complete; players are not unconditionally supportive and the process requires alignment of multiple objectives, with ongoing dialogue and updates via delegates and surveys.
If cricket is for sale, what do the players think?
Q: What would the next step from here look like for the privatisation process?
The next steps involve CA and the states reaching agreement, CA negotiating a new deal with the ACA, and then moving to secure investors; all of this depends on a renegotiated MOU and a deal that the ACA is happy with, before privatisation can proceed.
Ryan Harris talks 'rhino rev ups', SACA glory and Australian coach aspirations
Q: How do you handle fringe players who aren't in the XI but are still training and developing?
Coaching fringes is a fine art; I try to keep communication open, acknowledge why they're not in the team, ensure they understand what they need to improve, and create pathways to earn their spot. The emphasis is on building confidence and keeping the group cohesive while still pushing the best performers.
Ryan Harris talks 'rhino rev ups', SACA glory and Australian coach aspirations
Q: What motivates your coaching philosophy and what are the core pillars you try to instill in your players?
A blend of passion, enjoyment, and purpose; we have a simple three-to-four point philosophy that centers on having fun, doing it together, and staying bought into the process. I ride with the players into battle, hold them accountable, and push them to perform, while also learning and adapting from mentors and peers to improve tactically.
George Bailey chats relationships with the press, retirements and Ashes reviews
Q: Whose responsibility is it to future-proof the team, given the ongoing cycle and the aging core?
Bailey discusses a collaborative approach with the states and coaching staff, emphasizing a managed transition where the goal is to retain strength while developing younger players to step in when needed.
