Fantastic series. Neil brings so much insight and enthusiasm to the music chosen by his guests. The choice of guests has been really good too. Highly recommended.
A very clever musician who dissects tracks chosen by various guests, then chats about life, and how important those tracks have been to them. Like dessert island disc but better.
Neil Brand is such a great presenter - so knowledgeable, a fantastic musician - and you learn so much without feeling patronised. And he brings out so much from each guest. A great series.
Neil Brand is always superb, and this is him at his friendly, knowledgeable best, with some lovely guests! Thoroughly recommend this.
I don’t know a lot about music so it’s really interesting to hear some of the more technical stuff. And they’re a joy to listen to - all the guests just seem to be having the time of their lives and it’s infectious.

A musician-host leads intimate conversations with a rotating lineup of high-profile guests about the songs that shaped their lives. Each episode centers on personal playlist selections, with deep dives into why particular tracks resonate, how memory and identity intertwine with music, and live piano moments that illuminate the discussion. The format tends to blend storytelling with technical listening notes, making it a strong fit for listeners who love soundtracks, genre-crossing music, and the emotional power of songs. A notable hallmark is how guests' disciplines—architecture, film, broadcasting, performance—inform their musical choices, offering fresh angles on familiar tunes.
