Alderpod - The Aldersgate Cycle Podcast

This premise has promise but poor execution. The writer is way too scattershot. Too many characters are introduced and too many story threads which are not tied up. Supposed to be a second book but she never seemed to write it.

Good writers aren't necessarily good performers or audio editors. There's a low buzz on the tracks, presumably from an inferior mic, that gives me a migraine. Not exaggerating. The only reason this doesn't get 2 stars is because the story is better than expected. I just can't deal with the bad sound quality and the often stilted reading style.

This is a good audiobook, much more than a podcast and with real music to add feeling.

Sadly as the story gets going it ends with the writer promising book 2 Ward of the Rose

Unfortunately it would seem that almost 5 years on the book never got done so the listener is left hanging with yet another unfinished work

Everyone has their own unique take on what steampunk is. Natania's version is 5 parts brass, goggles and airships, 2 parts fantasy with a slight hint of Celtic fae, 2 parts western, and 1 part romance, audioably shaken, stirred, and mixed at 375 degrees for 32 episodes.

The result is a warm, yummy treat whose unique aromas and flavours cover up a few bland tastes.

The storyline is great, but the volume fades out and then comes back blasting loud on about half the episodes (mostly the mid to later ones). Makes it very hard to listen to, constantly turning the volume up and down. If it was rerecorded with stable volume I would give it 5 stars.

Wow, this is amazing! Steampunk is so much fun. Of particular note are the characters – very believable. Then there’s the: story, music, narration – all fantastic. It’s been so very enjoyable that I’ll be listening to it again (something I rarely do). Highly recommended to any fantasy buffs.

Honestly, I expected not to like this nearly as much as I do. The world is interesting, the characters seem developed, and I look forward to each new episode, no matter how far apart!

...this story is seriously addicting. I just spent the last few hours cross stitching because it was the only thing I could think of that I could do while listening and still be able to understand what was going on. I'm pretty new to the steampunk scene, and having discovered it through music this is the first steampunk literature I've actually come acrossed. I'm really enjoying the Aldersgate Cycle so far. It's a well-written novel with a great pace, engaging characters, and a really awesome soundtrack. Natania's narration is easy on the ears and her music is fantastic. Not every free "podiobook" is comparable to a fully produced audiobook, but this one certainly is.

This is an interesting story line with some creative twists and turns that will keep you listening. It is well narrated with some wonderful musical additions. Not that I am anyone special but I reccomend this novel to all.

Where is the beginning of the story? It starts with Episode 5. I would like to listen, but there does not seem any point to start in the middle. Am I missing something here?
