As a busy Thanksgiving month winds down, we realized that we haven't talked about a James Bond film for literally 200 episodes. To that end, we decided to get in a little 00-vember action with the severely underappreciated James Bond film The Living ... more
As we continue to wrap up our coverage of the Chicago International Film Festival, it's important to take a look at some of the smaller stuff that came out of the fest, especially those set in the city the festival calls home. Gregory Dixon's vibrant... more
Howdy, listeners! Today we're saddling up and sucking back some moonshine to an old Western classic, 1969's True Grit! (NOTE: I have used my pun quota for this episode; the rest of this post is safe for consumption).

While dysfunctional family dramas are arguably a dime a dozen, Elizabeth Chomko's Chicago-centric debut What They Had stands out substantially from the pack. A touching, heartfelt tale of a woman (Hilary Swank) who returns home to help her brother (M... more
Have nothing nice to say.
You guys take yourselves way too seriously. Concerning 16 Candles, it’s just a movie, not a directive on how to live your life. I was in high school during the 80’s and yeah the movie exaggerates a lot, but who cares? It’s a fun and funny movie. Yes, teenagers are horny. High school is a time when teenagers start becoming curious about their sexuality and because their so inexperienced about it, they’re really bad at it. You act as if they should act like worldly-wise 20 or 30 year-olds su... more
Hey I'm loving your show but on your wizards episode you refer to the little creatures from the dark crystal as tieflings 🤦♂️tieflings are the half demons in dungeons and dragons you are thinking of Gelflings* from the dark crystal. Yes that character you were referring to looks like a gelfling lol
Clint and Jared are not just film critics. They are not just mixologists. They are not just frequently hilarious. They are all those things. And some more things. Things like: quality guest bookers, solid celebrity impressionists, carbon-based humanoid lifeforms, and et cetera.
My only qualm is I am broke, and cannot afford the raw materials to construct the delicious cocktails they tailor to the movies they review. I do, however, possess an active imagination, and frequently pretend my Miller H... more
Every review feels like having cocktails with a group of friends after weekly movie night. The production value is great, the reviews are entertaining, and the drinks and rules are inspired. I always look forward to the next episode.
Do you like alcohol? Do you like Hollywood? Well, this wonderful podcast combines the 2 into a wonderful blend of entertainment, film criticism, and alcohol infused beverages.
I love this show, despite being a teetotaler. The hosts have great chemistry, and actually pay attention to the movies. The drink recipes are a fun part of the show too, even if I never have any of them.
I'm a big fan of Clint and Jared and want to support them in everything they do. Jared's signature cocktails are always creative and interesting, and the movie commentary by Clint and the guests is often intriguing and insightful. Their style is conversational and accessible, and they really do feel like a cocktail party for your ears. Plus, they're trying new and interesting things with the format like their Indiana Jones readthrough, which harkens back to the golden age of radio drama serials.... more
Whether Clint and Jared are talking about a prestiged classic or a by-the-numbers genre flick or just a plain bad movie, Alcohollywood soars! You can tell that they like all kinds of movies and that broad love comes in to every episode of the show, no matter what kind of movie they are doing. They can be critical of a film without being condescending. Their discussion is not only bright, but also very comfortable. Now in years past they have suffered through some audio volume problems but nowada... more
Even if I haven't watched the featured film and usually have less than a fraction of the ingredients needed for the themed drink I love this show. The hosts and their guests speak with confidence as they analyze the elements of each film. Even the drinking game rules expose recurring themes and tropes that you might not notice until you're told to watch for them. Listen, drink responsibly and enjoy!
Not only are you going to learn stuff, the hosts are a ton of fun and this is just a great idea for a show. I wish I could keep up with watching the movies as the podcast comes out. I'm doing my best!
A simple but great concept, well executed.
There are plenty of movie podcasts out there, but very few have discussion as fun and thoughtful as this one. Paired together with the movie-themed drink and subsequent drinking game, the show invites the listener to engage and enjoy the fun along with them. Well done!
I really appreciate their knowledge of not only the films, but the actors, directors, and writers. It definitely shows that they know what they're talking about. Plus, the make amazing cocktails catering to each movie! How creative is that?! Whether it's a movie I've been meaning to watch, or one I've seen, I really enjoy listening to what they have to say about it! Check 'em out!
I’ve been listening to Alcohollywood off and on for the past two years or so. There’s a ton of great episodes to choose from, but the most recent one where the team reviews Mask of the Phantasm is a GREAT place to start. CHECK IT OUT!
