  • Perfect for ballet nerds!

I am not a “adult ballet dancer” per se, I’ve been training my whole life and still dance professionally and teach. And I LOVE this podcast. It’s a wonderful listen for anyone who loves the art of ballet. Hannah is an excellent host, and I love how she covers all the aspects of the art form. Highly recommend

Love the episode on KM&Friends adult summer intensive. So helpful especially for those who are hesitant to invest their time, $$$,and egos (lol). Would you continue this theme and maybe do others? Would be so interested in hearing from someone who did a Ballet With Isabella intensive. Thanks so much for your channel!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 105 - Why Does Ballet Feel Harder Some Weeks? Supporting Your Cycle as a Female Dancer with Jess Spinner
Q: What role does protein play across the cycle, particularly during higher energy demands?
Protein helps maintain muscle and focus; balance is key, and during higher energy phases you should keep adequate protein intake to support recovery and performance even if cravings pull you toward more carbs.
Ep. 105 - Why Does Ballet Feel Harder Some Weeks? Supporting Your Cycle as a Female Dancer with Jess Spinner
Q: What should a pre-class snack look like for an adult dancer, especially around different cycle phases?
Choose carb-rich options with some protein about an hour before class, such as an English muffin with peanut butter and jelly, a granola bar, or a banana with nut butter, and adjust fat intake based on personal tolerance.
Ep. 105 - Why Does Ballet Feel Harder Some Weeks? Supporting Your Cycle as a Female Dancer with Jess Spinner
Q: How should someone start syncing fueling with their cycle in a practical way?
Start by tracking your cycle with an app or planner, commit to three balanced meals daily with snacks, and use proactive eating to ensure energy needs are met during upcoming training.
Ep. 104 - Why Are My Pirouettes STILL So Unstable? How to Get Strong & Stable Pirouettes with Allie Christensen
Q: What progression helps move from singles to doubles in pirouettes?
A staged approach emphasizing a stable balance on two feet, controlled releve in center, and a gradual increase in rotation intensity, with strength work for anti-rotation and standing leg through gradual, monitored progression—plus using a bar or bar-less drills to build balance and confidence.
Ep. 104 - Why Are My Pirouettes STILL So Unstable? How to Get Strong & Stable Pirouettes with Allie Christensen
Q: Why do adults tend to wobble or fall out of pirouettes despite practice?
Because pirouettes are complex and involve multiple body systems; confidence, grounding, anti-rotation control, and strong standing-leg engagement all need to be developed together, not in isolation. Repetition, proper cues, and cross-training help build these components.
