In 1972, at the base of a Swiss mountain, God saved a man named Mack Stiles. Two decades later, John Folmar “accepted Jesus as his personal Savior”; he doesn’t know even where he first heard that phrase. What happens in the next quarter-century is a testament to God’s commitment to use faithful, ordinary ministry to effect fruitful, extraordinary change. A Storm in the Desert tells this story.

"Can you believe it, Leeann?" "No, I can't believe it."
Dave and Gloria always dreamed of Dubai. Josh and Jenny dreamed of Jackson, Mississippi. Now they're both doing ministry in the Middle East. A storm in the desert is brewing.
After John and Keri showed up in Dubai, Babu and Ranjini were unsure and suspicious, Chris was lost and looking for answers, and Zhenia just didn't want to be brainwashed. But the Lord got to work, and the faithful, ordinary ministry of the Evangelic... more
In 1995, when John jogged past a church on Capitol Hill, he was looking for a status boost. What he found was the gospel and then a wife. In 2001, when Mack and Leeann landed in Dubai, they looked for a church. What they found was a well-meaning mess... more

Excellent podcast! It was so very encouraging to hear how God’s word is alive, effective and able to change hearts. Thankful for hearing the stories of everyday faith from Christians around the world
Great work here, very encouraging. All glory to God! Hoping for more stories like this from 9Marks
What glorious stories of the gospel going forth to all nations. Listening to this podcast has been a sweet encouragement to my heart, and I hope that more stories will continue to be told for the glory of God. My heart has been stirred to love and appreciate more the simple, faithful ministry of churches, near and far, and this has given me a renewed desire to give my all for Christ, in my local church now and ANYWHERE that he leads. To God be the glory!
Amazing and ongoing story of how God is working to save the nations. These church families are constantly toiling for the gospel and the fruit of their toil has been remarkable. Praise God for using the ordinary means of churches that value the ministry of the word.
I have been walking with the Lord, now for 50 years, since I was 29. My life has been and continues to be dramatically transformed, but as I listened to the 1st 1.5 episodes and then sat down for my prayer time, I was so drawn to love Jesus more deeply, not just as one love among many other loves. May God grow my life exponentially between now and my arrival in heaven whenever that will be.
