I’ve only just discovered this podcast and have listened to the first two episodes about Lucy Worsley’s grandmother. I’m hooked. But, please, to the lady who hosts it from Find My Past (which is an excellent resource for Family History by the way) you should know that it’s GeneAlogist and not GeneOlogist. Regardless, I’ll still be catching up with the past episodes.
Love this format of telling a family History along with what they may have lived through or witnessed!
I was hoping for a good genealogical podcast that would show the research and discovery and share that journey, and this is it! Great first series! I hope to hear many more genealogical life stories and perhaps contribute some. My grandma’s story is somewhat similar to Edna so that was fascinating to listen to. Thanks!
Fantastic idea for a series. Very refreshing to look at history through the eyes of people who lived through it. Excellent first episode. Very impressed with the production value.
This was a brilliantly put together podcast bringing together the lives of our ancestors. Like you said, we don’t get this in our school history books. Looking forward to episode two of this interesting story.

A family-history oriented series centers on intimate personal narratives drawn from archival materials, bringing long-dormant lives into focus through a blend of family records, newspapers, logs, and expert commentary. Episodes frequently pair genealogists with historians and museum professionals to contextualize ordinary people against sweeping historical backdrops—from naval campaigns and industrial communities to immigrant journeys and famine-era stories. A standout trait is the collaboration with archival partners and institutions, using primary sources to illuminate resilience, social dynamics, and everyday life across eras. This approach offers both a strong investigative angle for researchers and an engaging, human perspective for ge... more
