Reviews

4.4 out of 5 stars from 61 ratings
  • Always engaging, always learn something

Even when I think I dislike someone or thoroughly disagree with their politics (Rees-Mogg, John Redwood) Matt Stadlen always conducts a civil interview that makes you want to listen, and you always come away better informed. Just recently very much enjoyed Otto Scott and Jeremy Hunt. Really good stuff. Loved the run of interviews with cricketers and commentators. A joy.

20 Questions With Kwasi Kwarteng
Q: How much of the mini-budget's fallout was due to economic policy versus political messaging and leadership?
The policy was intertwined with political judgments; economic theory provides context, but ultimate choices about spending, taxation, and lifting the country rely on political priorities and leadership decisions.
20 Questions With Kwasi Kwarteng
Q: What was it like for you as Chancellor of the Exchequer holding one of the most powerful offices of state during the crisis that enveloped the mini budget?
It was surreal and chaotic, shaped by an intense leadership contest, and I reflect that the decision to push ahead and press on created turbulence that we later recognized as a grave miscalculation.
20 Questions With Clive Tyldesley
Q: What role does the co-commentator play in a broadcast?
The co-commentator provides on-field perspective, education, and balance; the best partnerships mix warmth and insight with the ability to keep the audience engaged without stealing the spotlight from the game.
20 Questions With Clive Tyldesley
Q: How do you prep for a game and manage research without losing spontaneity?
Preparation is about having a broad overview, knowing key players and stats, and keeping a ready-to-use file of context so when a moment comes you can respond quickly without sounding scripted.
20 Questions With Clive Tyldesley
Q: Which is the question you find most tedious?
The idea that the job is about saving lives or changing GDP is ridiculous; I try not to take it too seriously and focus on being self-critical and improving without overthinking mistakes.
