  • Always great guests & insightful chat

Just listened to the interview with Matthew Syed; insightful, funny and honest. We need more people like him and Iain who say things with an honest, non-tribal perspective. It’s challenging and respectful. Always worth listening to Iain.

  • Fantastic interview with Duncan Barkes

I’ve just listen to the Iain Dale All Talk interview with Duncan Barkes. It was great hearing them talk about Duncan’s career as a radio presenter and brought back memories for me of listening to LBC as a teenager in the 1970s up to the current day. A good radio host can keep you engaged and entertained.

382. Wes Streeting
Q: What motivated your decision to back Andy Burnham for leadership, and how did that shape your role now?
He describes a principled decision to back Burnham, focusing on unity and team effort, and explains how it led to taking on a role that allows him to push for long-term reform in public services and national security.
382. Wes Streeting
Q: When you were appointed, you faced criticism from senior generals. How did you respond?
He discusses defending his credibility as a communicator, reframing defense to explain threats clearly, and the importance of earning trust rather than reacting to criticism.
382. Wes Streeting
Q: What do you know about defense?
Wes Streeting explains that defence is a complex portfolio with culture differences between the MOD and other government departments, and emphasizes the need for clear priorities, modernization, and effective procurement.
381. Joanna Cherry
Q: If you had been elected leader of the SNP instead of Ian Blackford, what would you have done differently?
I would not have wanted to be the leader, but I would have pushed for stronger strategy and bargaining power, seeking practical steps like a referendum framework rather than relying on a legal contest that could backfire.
381. Joanna Cherry
Q: Do you think Nicola Sturgeon went to the Supreme Court because she had run out of road and needed a Section 30 order?
No, she didn't have a solid legal plan; she could have pursued a more legally robust strategy and should have consulted advisers who understood the cause of independence.
