  • Best debate show

I love this show, apart from the wasted fun question at the end, it’s a really good debate and Iain controls and is fair with the chance to answer questions for each panelist.

Absolutely shambolic episode. Poorly managed and out of control. Just a shouting match.

  • Too much of same

Rarely enough balance in this . Where are business people or commentators to inform or challenge to orthodoxy ? Same bland “rent a panel” of commentators often ill informed on key issues of day and second rate MPs too often with occasional interesting voice but all too rare

  • For an American, a great way to keep up

Love the guests and the style of the podcast. Iain Dale is fair, but he doesn't let guests spin, he checks them as they are talking.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dawn Butler, Caroline Voaden, Lord Daniel Hannan & Festus Akinbusoye
Q: How worried are you about race riots becoming a regular feature in the UK?
Panelists express cautious optimism that the country is not on that trajectory, while emphasizing the need to calm tensions, regulate harmful rhetoric, and address root causes of violence.
Kirsty Buchanan, Alfie Stirling, Emma Revell & Richard Power-Sayeed
Q: Should the government intervene more aggressively on energy prices, and how would rent controls fit into a broader energy and housing strategy?
There is broad agreement that energy affordability requires targeted interventions, including potential subsidised blocks for households, while rent controls are debated for their long-term housing market effects; most participants advocate a balanced mix of market reform and safety nets.
Kirsty Buchanan, Alfie Stirling, Emma Revell & Richard Power-Sayeed
Q: What do you think about Blair's argument that Labour should align with a radical centre?
The panelists debate Blair's assessment, with some seeing value in a centrist, growth-oriented approach and others warning that ignoring inequality and core economic fundamentals risks alienating voters; the consensus is that Blair's framing is coherent but not a panacea for Labour's broader challenges.
Luke Akehurst, David Simmonds, Colin Seymour (a.k.a. 'Crystal') & Poppy Coburn
Q: Should religious leaders who are based in democratic territories really be getting involved in politics?
The panel largely supports religious leaders expressing moral views, but cautions against using religious authority to sway electoral outcomes or pressuring followers to vote a certain way.
Sir Rocco Forte, Dr Jeevun Sandher, Baroness Kate Fall & Carl Cashman
Q: A follow-up about PMQs: is it time to dispense with PMQs given concerns over answering questions and accountability?
The panel largely defends PMQs as a needed accountability moment, though some participants suggest reforms or questions about its effectiveness may be warranted.
