Here's another project from Roger! In this podcast, he and two other podcast friends share a new movie each month -- actually, a movie that two of them like very much and that is totally new to the third person. Episodes will be dropping on the third... more
All good things must come to an end, and that includes our time at the Columbia Inn. Everyone gets to kiss and make up, except for the poor charger statue that gets thrown into a tree. Join us one last time as we finish up the movie and look back on ... more
Bob makes an impassioned appeal on the Ed Harrison show to his old pals in the army to come up to Vermont and honor General Waverly the only way he knows how -- through song. Meanwhile, Phil unleashes a cavalcade of slapstick comedy to distract Gener... more
Betty breaks up the act and flees to New York City, despite the entreaties of General Waverly and then Bob. We get a fantastic tap dance number between Judy and John, and then Bob heads back to the Big Apple to try to make things right. Unfortunately... more
Phil and Judy try to repair the fractured relationship between Betty and Bob by cooking up a phony engagement. Judy kicks the romance engine into high gear even as Phil returns to a seemingly prepubescent state. The subsequent cast party turns into a... more
Dramatic irony abounds as our rom-com veers into conflict mode. Bob's sincere attempt to reach out to his old pals in the army is misinterpreted by Betty as a shrewd little angle, fracturing their relationship. Oh, and... CHOREOGRAPHY.
Hosts: Marci... more
The temperature is rising in the Columbia Inn, and it isn't just the strange indoor firepit that they seem to have in the bar area. Bob knows the way to a woman's heart is through charcuterie, and he charms Betty with a classic song about liverwurst ... more
The song and dance kicks into high gear as the whole company arrives in sleepy Pine Tree. This chapter features two of the more theatrical numbers in the whole movie, "Minstrel Show" followed by "Mandy". The second number leads to some more unsubtle ... more
As a big fan of White Christmas, I was looking forward to some intelligent, researched discussion of this favourite holiday classic. I couldn’t make it through the first episode. The guy at jest has done SOME research, but the girl seems like she’s stumbled into the wrong podcast. Absolutely clueless. No idea about actual facts about the movie, historical context about the era it represented, or the era it was made. As someone who loves trivia about this movie, I felt like banging my head every ... more
Are the hosts more contemptuous of the movie than Roger is of Marcie? Neither Roger nor Marcie are particularly bright but he treats her like she’s a moron. Listened onto the trailer and episode one and have learned nothing so far.
I was today years old when I learned the significance of the horse statue, or charger as it’s apparently called. I have seen this film so many times over my life but never understood that part! I always thought it was such a weird gift to give. Thanks for revealing the answer to that mystery for me!
This podcast has been a delightful listen about one of my top 5 favourite movies. Lots of great trivia! Thanks for your time and words in creating such an enjoyable series!
Thanks for ruining White Christmas for me!
As a Christmas fanatic, content like this really helps heal the post-holiday blues. Thanks for the deep dive fam!
I loved this pod! Stop hating on Marcie. What I loved about this is that it was not an expert podcast. I grew up watching the movie. In the 90’s and early 00’s I’d scour eBay for fun White Christmas memorabilia. It felt like I was watching the movie with my family, and I loved it when their kids came on. We always talk through the movie reviewing it, giving the tidbits of history that we know. I would take half a charger, if half ratings were permitted, for the conversations about Holiday Inn. T... more
I grew up watching this movie with my mom who sadly passed away back in 2006. This is one of those movies we would play every Christmas and sometimes a random day during the year. I wish she was alive so we could listen to this podcast together. Because I know she would get a kick out of it.
Having known this movie since my youth and only recently revisiting it, I found the episodes very interesting to listen to. Especially EP10. I think it’s wonderful that two people took the time out of their lives to share a Christmas movie they love as a family with the world and produce a podcast for everyone…for FREE. Good on you and Merry Christmas.
This is by far my Christmas and to have to broken down into distinct sections was a podcast joy to come across to learn new things about the movie I must have seen over 50 times!
I feel like Marcie walked into the wrong booth, prepared for the wrong subject matter. It’s just…..Wow. My one year old would be a better conversationalist than poor Marcie. Or I guess I really should say poor Roger. Im gonna keep listening in hopes that Marcie begins to show some personality.
Marcie is bad. I feel like she lets Roger down. Roger is well informed and passionate. Marcie is not. Then they brought their kids on…cringe.
Was excited to listen to this podcast, but made it about two minutes until I had to bail. You’d think the hosts (Marcie) would know a little bit about classic movies, if that what the podcast was about. (ie: You didn’t know what Vista Vision was?!?! Hand painted film? You didn’t know who Irving Berlin was? Good grief.) Disappointing. See ya.
What a fun concept! This is a tradition in my family so we are going to listen and the watch the movie on Christmas Day!
