  • Speak up Vicki

As a teachers in America, we must address the biases in our overwhelming white profession. Vicki needs to step up and use her platform to talk about how educators can become more anti-racist so that we can better serve our students instead of just using the podcast to market her workshops.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vibe Coding for Teachers: No Coding Skills Needed
Q: So Donnie, give us some examples of how vibe coding has impacted your day-to-day teaching in the classroom.
He describes using AI to generate task lists, translate materials into multiple languages with Google Apps Script, and automatically format Sheets and Slides for student use, which saved him hours of prep time and improved student engagement and outcomes.
AI in the Classroom — Why There Are No Best Practices Yet
Q: What are the key conclusions you're drawing from the 120 interviews about AI in classrooms?
conclusions are that there is wide variation across districts and schools, there are no universal best practices yet, and successful adoption hinges on collaboration, local experimentation, and maintaining a focus on meaningful outcomes rather than chasing hype.
AI in the Classroom — Why There Are No Best Practices Yet
Q: What made you think that you needed to get the real story directly from teachers and students?
The motivation was to capture observations from the people closest to what's actually happening in classrooms, recognizing that professors and think tanks often miss the nuanced realities of day-to-day teaching and learning.
Moviemaking in the Classroom: Where Every Student Has a Story
Q: Do you think this new approach is one you'll keep using with project-based learning and teaching?
Yes, because projects that students are invested in are more engaging and lead to meaningful learning, whereas routine, drill-based tasks tend to disengage students and push them toward using AI as a workaround.
Moviemaking in the Classroom: Where Every Student Has a Story
Q: How do you balance technology use with curriculum and interpersonal learning at the start of the school year?
The balance comes from examining the task first to see if tech adds value or if an analog, interpersonal approach would be better, ensuring students still get social interaction and co-creation opportunities even without heavy tech use.
