I listen to quite a few different Jiu Jitsu podcasts and this is my favourite. Josh is an excellent host and interviewer and because he’s still quite early on in his Jiu Jitsu journey but also very intelligent, he asks clever questions but in such an egoless way, it’s very listenable. Love the calls with Jake, we all love Jake, but I’m so impressed with the diversity of the guests and conversations so I really enjoy them all!
As a blue belt who is, like Josh, relatively new to the game and equally obsessed with it, I greatly enjoy and benefit from the exchanges between Jake and Josh. I really appreciate Jake’s thoughtful analyses (even a mostly Gi guy). The show centers on practical Jiu-Jitsu improvement through technical breakdowns, coaching philosophy, and how to run effective training spaces. Episodes frequently explore guard work, passing schemes, and game-based learning approaches (notably the ecological/constraint-led framework), often paired with real-world coaching scenarios, gym operations, and technology tools for studying footage or scaling education. A standout is the recurring blend of tactical analysis with actionable coaching methods, plus ongoing experimentation with digital coaching tools and monetization strategies, which can appeal to coaches, gym owners, and serious practitioners looking to modernize their practice.
