今年教會領受宣教的經文，在馬太福音第九章35節到38節，耶穌看見許多人有需要，便憐憫他們。「憐憫」在原文是祂的心被刺痛的意思，耶穌看見需要，心便被觸動。就如同彭蒙惠看見台灣的需要，便渴望被神使用，在台灣傳福音。
但這個「因愛啟程」的旅途不是從人開始，是父神看見我們的掙扎與破碎，先動了憐憫的心，所以差派耶穌為我們釘死在十架上。而這份愛，感動了彭蒙惠，願意離開舒適的家鄉踏上宣教之旅。這份愛，如今仍在感動更多的人，承接「因愛啟程」的使命。

今天要透過撒母耳記下九章1-13節中大衛的故事，看見被撇下成為孤兒的米非波設，如何在他的光景當中經歷到父親的愛，也思想耶穌在約翰福音十四章18節中所要傳達的話語。
