  • Youth Inc. LOVE

Love Greg Olsen, I was a huge fan when he played on the Panthers! Lately I am the parent to an athlete, he’s 8 and some coaches treat them like they are 18. I really appreciate the insights Greg provides.

  • True Development

One of the most informative youth sports podcasts. The conversations are real and focused on developing young athletes into people first, with both short term and long term growth in mind. Parents and coaches should listen.

  • Listen to some pro athletes tell you how they know how to make your kid a youth sports star & how the only person holding your kid back from future stardom is you. This stuff was discredited decades ago.

A bit alarming how good the reviews are.

  • Good info

Really great information. Sound mix for the podcasts is terrible. Very uneven and I find myself raising and lowering the volume throughout.

Thanks Greg for this info. Great insight and information on navigating the physical/mental aspects of raising kids in sports. It can be difficult for all involved within the family. Also, lifelong Panther fan raising my boys as Cat’s fans here in TN. Keep up the good work.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why a 3x Olympic Medalist Won't Put Her Kids in Gymnastics | Dominique Dawes Interview
Q: What are your thoughts on kids easing up when they are dominating or winning a lot?
She highlights the importance of maintaining competitive integrity at younger ages, but also stresses that effort and discipline should be consistent every session. The goal is to teach sportsmanship and growth, not to crush opponents or rely on relentless dominance; strategy and substitutions can reflect development, but effort should never be turned on and off.
Why a 3x Olympic Medalist Won't Put Her Kids in Gymnastics | Dominique Dawes Interview
Q: At what age or point in a child's sports career should a parent seek one-on-one specialized training?
Dawes suggests there is no universal cutoff; readiness varies by child. She emphasizes recognizing signs like a child's sustained focus, ability to apply what they've learned, and self-motivation, and advises starting one-on-one training only when the child is physically, mentally, and emotionally ready, with patience and careful timing.
Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings on What it Actually Takes to Reach the Highest Level
Q: What moment showed for women in sports that you could balance a demanding athletic career with motherhood?
Her London 2012 pregnancy demonstrated that high-level competition and motherhood can coexist when there is strong support, and it inspired other athletes to pursue goals without sacrificing family.
Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings on What it Actually Takes to Reach the Highest Level
Q: What did you learn about fear and pressure at a young age and how did you cope with it on the biggest stages?
She maintains butterflies are natural, uses breathwork and journaling, and relies on a supportive team and inner focus to manage pressure while staying connected to her love of the game.
Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings on What it Actually Takes to Reach the Highest Level
Q: Did the way that your parents parented you impact the way that you parent your kids?
Yes, she learned to value compassion and resilience from her parents, balancing encouragement with accountability and modeling a strong work ethic, which she now applies to her own children.
