《尋秦記》原著小說其實相當著重人性同權謀，對神秘思想嘅運用相對克制；但去到電視劇版本反而加入咗更多「天命」「預兆」同「占卦」元素，甚至出現一段關鍵嘅占卦情節，由李斯解《易經》。呢啲內容喺小說入面係完全冇出現過。今集就由呢啲改編入手，討論呢啲元素點樣反映戰國一套重要嘅思想結構。

《尋秦記》其實大量借用了墨家思想作為結構骨架。主角項少龍修習所謂「墨子劍法」，亦出現一個具高度組織性嘅墨家網絡，能夠跨國運作、介入諸侯政治；而「魯公祕錄」所代表嘅技術知識，亦明顯呼應《墨子》當中對守城、機關、工藝嘅重視。再加上項少龍身上反覆出現嘅「救人」「減少殺戮」傾向，以及故事不斷碰觸嘅命運與歷史必然問題，其實都係墨家思想入面極為關鍵嘅議題。作者點樣將一套先秦思想轉化為現代小說可以運作嘅敘事裝置？
