  • I Learned a Ton

For the beginning screenwriter, Jake is everything you need. He knows the craft, and he knows the industry. He's also incredibly warm and kind. TBH, I was quite stunned at how patient he was with me -- our 15 min call lasted two hours but he didn't even mention it. His classes are worth investing in, especially given that his prices are fair. Under his tutelage, I was able to successfully pivot from writing literature to writing for the screen.

  • Obsessed

Editing to add, I wish they'd cover more screenplays written by women. Arrival is great. Michael Clayton feels a little dated. Substance broke through Hollywood in a much more unexpected way.

Afterward I always feel inspired, motivated, and enlightened -- even if translating that feeling to writing is a different story lol. I also attended one of Jacob's panels at Austin FF and hi... more
