great
Great fan project
The world building is wonderful! The heroes and villains are all flawed people with more depth than I expected. Sound is iffy, but these narrators did this for free so I didn't have read it online. I can't help but feel thankful for that.
Extremely enjoyable. Thank you to everyone involved with creating this audiobook.
It's an audio version of a web series I otherwise would not have time to read. I love Wildbow's worldbuilding, his vocabulary needs work, but that's all this review does not reflect my opinions on the author.
The narrator's used are an issue however. The main narrator makes a lot of tongue and mouth noises, and he has little confidence in his voice some episodes. Edit: a few episodes in the mic gets upgraded, and the narrator gets better on mic. So It is better.
Some early voice acting issues, since it's fan made, but the passion and love is real.
Though the sound quality varies, sometimes vastly, between the individual chapters, it is amazing to hear what a community of fans can create when they work together.
I‘m about halfway through now and Iam enjoying every single moment of it.
Thank you all for creating this!
I switched off between reading and listening to Worm. I think the while the voice actors certainly weren’t professional level (which is to be expected from a fan project) They captured the story well, and it really is a good one. Particularly, Wilbow’s dialogue is phenomenal which, sadly, is rarer and rarer.
If you’re looking for drama, suspense, comedy, and action all wrapped up in insanely well written story look no further. From start to finish Worm drags you into a rollercoaster ride with a myriad of well developed characters. It boasts a fantastic plot, very well thought out scenarios, and an over arching plot twist that leaves the listener constantly anticipating the next chapter. From the fight with Lung to the End Bringers to the Slaughterhouse Nine and beyond. Highly recommend to anyone loo... more
Beyond the amazing story - and really, it’s great - this audiobook/podcast is made exceptionally well. I was delighted to listen to each arc as Taylor’s journey unfolded. After tens of hours, the characters can start to become slightly tangled, due simply to their sheer number. The wiki which was created for the Worm and Parahumans Universe can come in handy during these times.
I would like to thank everyone who spent the time to work on this project, I suspect the impact Worm has had on me wi... more
This is an incredible story. I love the creativity the author put into it. Nothing generic, fully realized characters and a vibrant world. A welcome, fresh take on superpowers that we really need.
It’s very cool that they decided to go ahead with this fan project.
The regular narrators are probably the best ones (Rein, Snagger, NSPB), although some of the others are pretty good too.
But there are a couple of instances where it’s a better idea to just go read the original chapter online (like with the girl that read chapter 13, it was completely unintelligible)
The story is amazing and totally worth a shot if you have any interest on superheroes
This story is fun and mostly easy to follow; however, it seems like all of the “black characters” have major issues. Even the black superheroes.
