Thanks so much for your podcast, which gave me so much fantastic information about British breeds and the wonderful farmers, spinners, dyers and vendors. I am a total convert and will only buy British yarn now. I also love the historical, social and economic context that Louise gives. Truly eye-opening, thank you!
Louise’s authenticity is second only to her generosity of spirit. Her passion is as infectious as her laugh! I can’t wait to hear more.
I really enjoy the gentle caring voice at time like these. Thank you
This pod cast was perfect! Been following you for years and always enjoy dropping in for a listen. Cast #124 was needed! Nice to know others feel just like me with the current world situation. I appreciate your efforts to touch base with us all in the wool world.
Thanks for a wealth of information!
Thanks for just not being tooooooo precious and sharing your authentic voice. Your knit nights must be a hoot!
Always entertaining and thought provoking. Been listening for a couple of years now and I can’t imagine how much effort this takes to put together- to research and deliver such excellent content with such consistency. Always look forwards to the next episode and am never disappointed. Louise has really challenged my thinking about Wool and its provenance.
Enjoyable with lots of good information
Louise has the most wonderful voice, and it has an innate warmth and cheer that welcomes you into the world of Knit British. The aim of the podcast is to inform - and involve - the podcast listener about British sheep breeds (rare and otherwise) and their wool characteristics through a wool exploration undertaken by listeners, and feedback provided to Louise.
There is something very reassuring to listening to others' experiences of the hand-squish-grab test and the multiple wash and block acco... more
I love this podcast. Perhaps it’s because I’m American, but I love the host’s accent. She also has such a loving and positive attitude and she is truly all about the wool. I listen to Knit British as a travelogue, and note all the regions I wish to visit on a wool touring vacation. I dream of the sheep— all their breed varieties and all their dedicated shepherds. I love that the podcast features interviews, yarn reviews, editorials and news of the British fiber industry and local British sma... more
This is one of the best knitting podcasts out there. I have learned so mucy from Louise...she has literlaly changed my kntting. She also has created an amazoing community online and in real life. If you care about wool this is the place for you!
I was strolling through knitting podcasts to find some fun and crafty (and knitty) podcasts to add to my collection. Listening to episode 107 and she started with knitting for Scots Against tRump! Now here’s a podcast I can get behind. Count me in as a new listener 🤓
Great podcast - very much more like a radio programme than a traditional podcast. Louise is very engaging and the content is both highly informative as well as entertaining. Quality of the interviews is great - and I also appreciate the personal input and opinion. However, I have been amazed how much I didn't know about locally produced yarn and the variety of wool available. My eyes have been opened listening to this podcast I cannot recommend highly enough!
Invaluable podcast with heart. Louise Scollay advocates for use of local yarns, as fiercely as she advocates for makers, producers, knitters and crocheters and for the act of making. Focus on local wool, yes, but also for something deeper than that- for connections between us all. Louise reminds us that we are all connected and our craft has a tangible life beyond itself- in its roots and its future.
I can't believe I have only just discovered this wonderful podcast. I have listened to almost 30 episodes in one week! The only criticism is that I listen to it while I work and it is so distracting as I keep having to look up all the wonderful yarns, patterns and general wonderful wool matters Louise talks about. I love listening to Louise's voice and imagining her in lovely Shetland, it really is something special. I will now be looking only for British yarns and after kniting mainly socks for... more
