世界上唯一现存的、系统性的女性专用文字——女书，诞生于中国湖南江永。在“男尊女卑”的封建社会，女性被剥夺受教育权，主流汉字成为男性专利。女人们决定不去参与男人的游戏，创造并使用了只属于女性的文字，以此抒发情感、建立友谊、记录生命。
本期节目，我们从女书出发，延伸到日本的平假名（曾被称为“女手”）和朝鲜的谚文（曾被称为“雌文”）。三种文字，同一个东亚文化圈，同样的性别压迫，同样的女性智慧与坚韧。它们都在被主流排斥的夹缝中，依靠内在的生命力完成了价值反转，成为重要的文化符号。
