  • Entertaining

Listened to the Pinotage ep after having Mel in a WSET course last night where we had Pinotage :-)

Love the way they covered the variety but I still can’t drink it.

  • So helpful

The content if this podcast is SO helpful and accessible which is refreshing, but the sound quality is very variable and I wouldn't recommended listening to this with headphones because it goes from inaudible to super loud. Would recommend if you can get past the frustrating sound quality.

  • Informal and informative

Irreverent, informative, intellectual at times - what a great combination these two are!

I have learnt so much about wine and the industry in a fun and relaxed way. I love all of Megs many anecdotes and that she calls a spade a spade. Mel is a great bright and bubbly counterpoint.

  • Easy listening and great drinking

I’ve been listening along to increase my knowledge about wines, wine making and stories that accompany wine. Love how easy it is to listen to Meg and Mel, interesting and funny! Worth a listen for sure. I have it on when working and I often giggle out loud to the antics.

    Cheers!

  • Niceness!

Chuckling over this excellent podcast - great banter, good learnings and yes, I too can vouch for Jane Cooper from the Aotearoa NZ Wine Awards (Nebbiolo ep) being darn fantastic and yes, she does indeed listen :-) Keep the fun facts pouring ladies x

Q: What makes a good wine list?
A good wine list appeals to everyone and has a mix of traditional and funky options, ensuring deliciousness is a priority.
Riverland (The Big Guys)
Q: Can that be right? It seems crazy, especially seeing as the importance of sustainability doesn't sound right. What do you think?
The figure of 110 litres of water includes the entire process, from grape growing to winery operations, and while it sounds alarming, Australia uses significantly less water per tonne of grapes than other countries.
Wine News: Why aren't there more female winemakers, iffy wine labels, a rough vintage for WA and a Cellar Door tasting fee debate
Q: We heard that the industry shows a significant gender pay gap. What are you doing to address that?
We've established fair processes for salaries to help close the gender pay gap and encourage women to advocate for themselves and seek mentors in the industry.
Wine News: Why aren't there more female winemakers, iffy wine labels, a rough vintage for WA and a Cellar Door tasting fee debate
Q: What is the problem in the industry and what can we be doing to fix it?
There are challenges around work-life balance and a lack of female winemakers despite high graduation numbers. It's important to create an environment where women feel comfortable discussing responsibilities outside of work and offer flexible arrangements to support them.
Yarra Yering: How they got on top, and how they stay there - interview with Sarah Crowe
Q: How did you get into wine?
Sarah discusses her accidental path into winemaking through horticulture and exposure to vineyards abroad.
