  • Political lobbying

Fact. They strategised with the Labor Party during the election campaign. That really bothered me and just feels so manipulative now.

Guys I was really enjoying this podcast even though, it was reminder that a new album was out by one of our best (ABC Conversations, similar). Then came the blooper - the title of the film that Poitier starred in and directed was TOTALLY wrong!!

This made a mockery of the whole pod.

  • Refined, informed idiocy

Gun podcast! Clever. Informative. Utterly hilarious. So Australian. The ‘Hello Sport’ NRL PR catastrophes episode was beyond hysterical. Dylan Alcott interview👍🏼👍🏼 TOO GOOD! Tim Ross - gorgeous words. Brendan Cowell - beautiful words. I could go on but I’ll leave that to Youse All💗

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

BETOOTA TALKS: Concetta Caristo on her career as an Australian comedy heavyweight (and Italy's World Cup Heartbreak)
Q: How do you handle the pressure of audience expectations now that you've gained a larger platform?
Her stance is to remain authentic, avoid performative behavior, and prioritize making choices that feel true and free, even if that means navigating new scrutiny from fans and media.
BETOOTA TALKS: Concetta Caristo on her career as an Australian comedy heavyweight (and Italy's World Cup Heartbreak)
Q: What was the experience like filming in Kruger National Park and not having contact with the outside world for a month?
She describes it as an intense, transformative period where being without a phone forced deep reflection and improvisation, and where the group dynamics and personal growth played a central role.
BETOOTA TALKS: Concetta Caristo on her career as an Australian comedy heavyweight (and Italy's World Cup Heartbreak)
Q: Tell us about how you got contacted for the jungle show and what that process looked like.
She recounts that her management hinted there could be a spot, there was a chat with producers, and it felt almost surreal, like a last-minute opportunity that aligned with a broader career arc.
BETOOTA TALKS: Tax Reform and The Sydney Roosters (featuring Allegra Spender MP)
Q: Do you get the sense that the government is urgently working on tax reform like you are advocating?
There's some movement and public pressure, with discussions across crossbenchers and economists; the government hasn't fully committed yet, but there's a sense they're considering stronger gas taxes and broader tax reform.
BETOOTA TALKS: Farrer By-Election with Independent Candidate Michelle Milthorpe
Q: This would probably be a big part of your job as an independent candidate that doesn't have a loving, glowing Australian media behind you. How would you introduce yourself to a voter who's only just heard about this independent candidate?
Milthorpe presents herself as a regional native with a family and teaching background, emphasizing regional equity, practical experience, and a commitment to addressing healthcare, childcare, and water issues from a local perspective.
