  • It is so bad

They talk about aromas being “inclusive “

    It is sad and ridiculous

  • Usually love it but . .

The episode with Dave Rodman was so hard to listen to. Call me Gen X, but his use of "like" as a filler was so distracting and outwayed any useful takeaways.

  • Not well done

I’ve tried over and over to listen without a bad attitude. Unfortunately, it just isn’t well done from the host to producing. I love wine and have for decades. This just isn’t interesting. It sounds like a forced conversation about minutiae. It’s a fail for me.

  • Engaging conversations

This podcast has been really interesting lately. I really like the conversations. Wine can so boring and pretentious but these conversations are not. I’m into it!

I am a subscriber to the magazine and intend for it to stay that way. I enjoy it very much. Unfortunately this podcast is terrible. It is pretentious and often unlistenable. There are much better wine podcasts. Time to reboot this one.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 200: Why Is Oregon Producing So Many High-Quality, Affordable Wines?
Q: How has the industry's perception of itself changed since its rise to popularity 20, 30 years ago?
People are very aware of that still and are still proud to be out there and marketing the wines for the quality of the wines.
Episode 200: Why Is Oregon Producing So Many High-Quality, Affordable Wines?
Q: If there are too many vineyards in the state, what does the future hold? What does 5, 10 years look like in Oregon if we have a glut of supply?
The short run is we're seeing people are trying to sell the fruit wherever they can to make it. Over the long haul, do we become like California, where you start seeing vineyards being ripped out? I think there's got to be a shakeout of some kind.
Episode 200: Why Is Oregon Producing So Many High-Quality, Affordable Wines?
Q: Are you surprised that so many wines from Oregon made our Best Buys list?
Yes and no. It was great to see that nearly 10% of the list is from Oregon. It didn't surprise me that much because I've been noticing more and more Oregon wines of various grape varieties that sell for less than $20 that end up getting pretty decent scores.
Episode 199: In Defense of Grocery Store Wines
Q: What should we look for in a wine when shopping at a grocery store?
Emily emphasizes looking for geographic specificity in wine labels, as it can indicate a quality product, while also keeping an open mind to try different varietals.
Episode 199: In Defense of Grocery Store Wines
Q: So how did you settle on those bottles at Trader Joe's?
Emily discusses her process of purchasing 23 bottles from Trader Joe's, which resulted in nine recommendations based on a variety of tasting criteria.
