  • Passion for the Land

Listening to someone who has genuine love of the Jewish people and their homeland in Effie was an inspiration.

As a Bible student, it is wonderful to hear that one of God’s people actually understands that God is involved in their lives and their very existence is a ‘miracle’ - very special indeed.

This is a must-listen episode for anyone with an interest in the Bible and especially the land of Israel and God’s people, the nation of Israel.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

110 Revised English Version – John Schoenheit
Q: Why did you choose to translate certain terms like Yahweh instead of traditional Lord or Jehovah?
The choice reflects a commitment to representing the original text's usage as closely as possible; Yahweh distinguishes the divine name in ways that Adonai/Lord do not, aiding readers in understanding who is being referenced and how the name functions in the text.
114 Give – Tabby Ryan
Q: What motivated you to move to Kenya at 21 and take on teaching and health-related work?
She describes a sense of gap between belief and action, a drive for service, and a belief that education and hands-on work could be a powerful combination for helping others.
114 Give – Tabby Ryan
Q: Tell us a little about your background and how you came to find the gospel message.
Tabby explains growing up in Adelaide, her parents' faith, and how curiosity and personal decision-making shaped her beliefs before pursuing mission work and service in Africa.
108 Light in the Shadow of Bondi – Mark Olsen
Q: Why is Jesus' teaching about turning the other cheek relevant when we see such brutal events unfold?
Jesus reframes justice through mercy and compassion, offering a path that prioritizes mercy over retaliation and points toward a broader divine purpose.
108 Light in the Shadow of Bondi – Mark Olsen
Q: Tell us a little about how you understand the Law of Moses' eye for an eye in light of today's events.
The eye-for-an-eye concept is presented as a restraint against excessive punishment and a guard against the spirit of retaliation, guiding justice toward proportion and mercy rather than revenge.
