I completely agree with the other two reviews. The hosts are disengaged and scripted. The content has potential, but the hosts kill that potential.
I love DK and expected more. It would be great if the hosts could prepare specific questions for the hosts. It also sounds like they are not listening or engaged with the guests. The host makes constant and disruptive sounds “mm hmm”, “yeah”, “mmm”, “ah”, “right”, “sounds great” etc. They sound like they are scrolling their phones and just making random noises to appear engaged.
Episode on the Basque Country was quite interesting but excessive use of the word ‘like’ by the guest and the male presenter was beyond annoying.
Really enjoy ‘travelling’ with Lucy and James. Great hosts, easy to listen to. Thank you for sharing wonderful places with me!
I love the DK Eyewitness travel books which are well researched and highly informative. The podcast is, sadly, amateur hour. Goofy hosts who ramble on. When talking with a travel writer one felt obligated to tell her (and us) that she hadn’t read the book because she had so many emails. Hey DKE, you can do better.
