  • And now… Johnathan Haidt

This show claims to be progressive but can’t find their way to criticize most centrist people with a D next to their name. I used to suffer through this show. Instead of actually supporting real meaningful reforms to our online life, they platform Johnathan Haidt. Yeah, no. Hard pass. Would give one star but Jane Coaston is actually good at her job. I just don’t think she should platform such evil people, and maybe she should criticize more democrats that just Fetterman

  • What a Day

I love starting my morning with this podcast. It keeps me current on most issues. I have been listening for a while now and though I enjoyed the old hosts Jane is great and injects just enough humor to make all the dreadful things she reports tolerable.

  • What????????

What do you mean Israel is not why we went into Iraq. All the false intelligence we got about why we went into Iraq was given to us by Israel they are not our friend but this is a state not antisemitism and they told is the same lies to get us to go into Iran. Also Epstein was working for Israel too not racist just facts.

  • Jane makes my weekday mornings

Keeping track of the news is especially overwhelming these days. I love my daily dose of Jane. I find myself cackling at her asides and delivery. Her snark is a refreshing contrast to the daily mayhem and constitutional crisis that is happening every day.

  • Missing the old format

I’m not sure why the headlines format changed. I miss getting a quick blurb on several topics. This used to save me from having to spend too much time on the daily news but now I need an additional source.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

For Hegseth, It’s One Military Under God
Q: For listeners not familiar, how central is Hegseth's evangelical background to his leadership style in the Pentagon?
Michelle explains that while he has a distinct evangelical history, his recent acceptance of stronger religious language and its integration into military culture appears to be a strategic, rather than purely personal, move that aligns with a broader political project.
A Trumped Up Ceasefire
Q: What were the key terms of the two-week ceasefire discussed in the episode?
The guests explain that there were multiple, sometimes conflicting, two-week ceasefire proposals, with claims about what each text allowed—ranging from limits on Israeli strikes to sanctions relief—though the exact terms were unclear and disputed in reporting.
Trump & Iran: From Doomsday To Ceasefire
Q: What do you think needs to happen next in Congress to prevent further escalation?
Congress should press for a formal war powers resolution and consider invoking the 25th Amendment if the president's behavior continues to threaten national security, while ensuring human rights are central to any negotiations.
Trump & Iran: From Doomsday To Ceasefire
Q: All of this has just happened. What's your reaction to this update?
I'm incredibly relieved that other countries and actors pushed back against the president's threats and that a two-week ceasefire appears to be moving forward, but I remain deeply concerned about the forceful, destabilizing rhetoric and its impact on civilians.
Lebanon, The Iran War’s Second Front
Q: This is a big question, but what is Israel's goal in southern Lebanon?
The goal has generally been the disarmament of Hezbollah, viewed as a terrorist organization by many, but practical politics and regional realities mean that achieving complete disarmament is unlikely, as local power dynamics and representation keep Hezbollah embedded in the political landscape.
