Personally I really liked this, I thought it did a good job of showing different POVs. Clearly it was biased towards the protestors, telling their POV, but I thought it also did a good job of highlighting some of their missteps and the racial tensions and how they can be perceived as out of touch. I also have a personal bias towards the liberal side so I’m sure that factored into how I experienced this podcast.

The number of reviews from people who didn’t listen to more than 10 minutes 🙄or who complain that the protesters don’t have their political ideology (MAGAT), or who don’t know what victim means, or who don’t understand nuance or that reporting doesn’t mean “defending”, or who don’t know actual American history and want everyone else to leave … well, the # is astounding. This is really less about the podcast (which was garbage) and more about the protest… so u think cops are ill-trained bullies so you’re going to protest a place where cops can be trained not to be bullies?
I’ll be honest - I was getting annoyed by the somber music and use of phrases like “be in community with each other” when they just mean “hang out.” I was also getting confused by so many different names for one person: Tort, Tortugita, Manuel, Mani…it felt like a reading Dostoyevsky.
However, I’m so glad I stuck with it and listened to the end. I was in tears by the 6th episode as I felt the community’s anguish over the loss of Tortugita.
