I love this podcast. The amount of work and effort that is done to bring so many great classics to DVD and Blu-ray is very commendable. Physical media is still better for many reason, particularly because there are some films that haven’t even been released on VHS, so their work is still a very important aspect in Home Media Collecting. Keep it up you guys!
Ever wonder why ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ is available on Seven different DVD offerings? Is the feature film on those products all equal? If not, how do they differ? Which is highest quality? Is the pricier Blu-Ray better still? Are any of these versions better than what I can see on TCM?
This podcast answers all those questions with simple technical explanations.
This is ultimately a promotional vehicle for Warner Archive which takes great care to release only best-in-class versions ... more
I am so happy we got the Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1 Blu-ray and can’t wait for more. These look better then ever. They look gorgeous. Far better then the Turner Prints and the Terrible Laserdisc Prints. This podcast is very informative. Hope WarnerArchive can release more classic cartoons. Particularly Tex Avery MGM Cartoons, Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry. Barney Bear would be a treat too. Also please do not omit cartoons like Uncle Tom’s Cabana and Half-Pint Pygmy. They aren’t offen... more
I always look forward to the podcasts; both informative and entertaining
I just started listening to this podcast due to the release of the new Tex Avery blu ray set. The podcast is informative and entertaining. Please keep releasing more classic cartoons on blu ray, particularly Tex Avery, Tom and Jerry, and Looney Tunes. They are treasures of American history. Glad to see them being made available in high definition in all their Technicolor glory!
I can't believe I didn't know about this podcast before, it's too good to be real.
These guys are great fun to listen to, but they also happen to have an incredible knowledge base.
I didn't know Warner Archive was a boutique brand using sales of physical media to restore new negatives of my favourite films. Now all I want to do is buy more while they keep me up to date on what's next!!!
I love Mickey Rooney and hanna-Barbera and I just bought The Looney Tunes Golden Collection all 6 volumes beep beep what’s up doc you’re despicable suffering succotash lol
The Warner library is so large and the mandate of the Warner Archive team is so broad that no listener could possibly be interested in more than a fraction of their weekly releases. However, I enjoy the knowledge and enthusiasm on every episode of the podcast, even if the pictures and shows being discussed are not always my style.
What a gem to listen to!
So well written and the original actors too!!!
Would be great for visually impaired people as well
The three guys offer great insight and enthusiasm to each new release from Warner Archive. They all work for Warner, however, they are true film fans and make me want to go out and purchase every release.
I had no idea that studios would create shorter radio plays of feature films back in the golden age. It's such a time machine into a bygone era. I'm getting wistful just thinking about it. Wonderful podcast!
I don't have friends over because most of them are dirty and annoying. They keep touching my walls. My walls are plaster and dirt comes off easy on them. So why have friends. it's a pity because I like company. So this podcast provides a useful solution. I know a lot about movies but I like learning new things. This podcast makes it seem like I have friends over and they like movies. It's like having a party or get together without having to clean up afterward.
Amazingly, despite being essentially an infomercial, this podcast transcends mere advertising and is a truly informative and entertaining take on the films released through the Warner Archive.
But there has not been a new episode since early November 2014! C'mon fellas, time to return to the microphones...
Love this. The hosts are well schooled in the history of cinema and work so well together, it’s a treat to listen to! Also love the Warner Instant Archive site. Genius decision to start this all. I love history, and this is loaded with the history of film and television.
Great when they put out the old time shows, but seem to be focusing more on talking about them lately rather than playing them. Would have been a 5 star rating had it been for that.
