  • New format? Bland.

The new format is vague and less interesting. We look to this show for guidance and information. Random puff pieces on “capitalism in general” don’t cut the mustard. We need current events. We need current moves in the market. We need to see the effects of politics on the business world. Mr. Rukeyser, I’m sure, would be disappointed.

  • Liberal biased media

Never a conservative perspective. Life insurance companies didn’t go bankrupt during COVID. Life insurance companies paid the same as they have always paid. The unvaccinated COVID got it once. The vaxed keep getting COVID. We see it in the clinic. Pathetic journalism.

  • No Politics Please!

If Larry Summers wants to talk finance, that’s great. If he wants to shill for a political party, go to the View or CNN.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Britain’s Debt Problem, AI’s Local Burden, Poland’s Economic Boom
Q: Is there a connection between the gilt market and political instability in the UK, and if so, what is it?
Yes. Bond markets act as a constraint and signaling mechanism; rising gilt yields signal investor concern about fiscal policy, which in turn influences political decisions and stability, creating a feedback loop between markets and governance.
Haass on the War in Iran, Iran Oil Fallout, IMF Meeting Anxiety, US-China Rare Earth Competition
Q: Give us a guide to how we should look at the negotiations going on right now involving the war in Iran.
Haass explains that negotiations typically start with posturing and that Washington's lack of diplomacy experience complicates bridging the gaps on core issues like the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear concerns, suggesting a staged approach with clear priorities and the potential for a new governance mechanism for the strait.
China’s Role in Iran War, Global Fertilizer Disruptions, Matcha’s Supply Problem
Q: Give us your perspective on what role the Iran War plays in U.S.-China relations.
The war has a decisive impact; China is economically entangled in Iran and relies on a stable energy supply, while its political stance shows a tension between supporting an ally and maintaining reliable access to Gulf energy, complicating U.S.-China diplomacy.
Trump Taps Warsh For Fed Chair, Furman Reacts to Rate Hold
Q: How do you get the public to realize that?
You do that by taking policy actions that are consistent with the data.
Trump Taps Warsh For Fed Chair, Furman Reacts to Rate Hold
Q: Did Donald Trump tell you to do anything in particular?
The president has never asked me to do anything on monetary policy.
