Great reporting, I prefer this to The Atlantic. But most of all, I appreciate The Walrus not using AI for the narration!!!
I thoroughly enjoy Voices and appreciate having this calm thoughtful podcast. It is refreshing to listen to in a world of click baiting biased offerings.
Sadly, I’ve been spoiled by years of listening to pro narrators on Audible. The Walrus apparently lets narrators pronounce words and foreign names however they want. 🤯
I really enjoy the broader rave. Topics offered, and I always find myself learning something new.
I subscribed to Walrus for many years. Great to be able to listen. Thanks.

A thoughtful, idea-driven program features long-form readings, essays, and expert discussion centered on Canadian policy, security, and culture. Episodes balance literary narration with in-depth analysis of national and international topics—ranging from defense and technology policy to Indigenous rights, climate-influenced energy debates, and language accessibility. Notable strengths include rigorous guest panels from academia, policy think tanks, and journalism, plus engaging narrative framing of complex issues for listeners who want context, nuance, and practical takeaways. The show often weaves literary or human-interest angles into policy debates, making dense subjects accessible without sacrificing depth or credibility.
