Once I discovered this podcast, I could not stop listening! Have had it on while I exercise and any chance I got in the car. I felt heard and seen as a born and raised South Texas girl from the 90s. It really made my heart happy hearing snippets of the Johnny Canales show as well as the Tejano music I was used to watching & listening growing up. I was very sad listening to the last episode because I did not want it to end. I would LOVE for it to continue & hear more from fans and artists!
Drop the playlist J.B.! I love this podcast! I feel seen/heard as a tejana. A Tejana who grew up in the 90s in Dallas between hip hop, Alternative, and Tejano
What this podcast does is open up the circle to those of us that grew up with and were influenced by Tejano music. Hearing how artists used that influence to create their own sound was something that needed to be finally recorded for others to hear. Keep the episodes going, because it will be a reference point for future generations.
This is an absolutely essential series to follow, as it captures a microcosm of the American dream.
I have been waiting for a podcast like this for years. So much nostalgia and really exploring the impact Tejano music and culture has had on my life and how truly different it is than the Mexican culture. I felt like the things I have been explaining to people for years about what being Tejano means and how the music shaped us 90 kids growing up in Texas. Thank you for telling our story. I can’t wait to hear from more guests and people I grew up with. You got it, take it away!
