My dad was Vietnam Vet, Brown Water Navy from 1965-1969. He was on the USS Benewah and recieved the Bronze Star. He never would talk much about his time in the service even when asked, and he passed away in 2018 taking his memories of his time in combat with him. These stories help me understand some of what he must have faced, and makes me proud of my dad’s service. Thank you for helping fill in some of the blanks.
If you want to know about the war in Vietnam and hear it from those who were there, This is the place. Each episode is different. Covering news releases and personal interviews by some one that has been there and done that. I really love the way Mack brings a story to life.
My dad is a Vietnam Veteran 5th battalion 7th Calvary 1st Calvary division for the US ARMY. I am VERY proud of him and we had a long road trip where we listened to your podcast and my dad loved hearing all these stories! He said it brought back many memories! Thank you for having this podcast and giving my dad a chance to talk to me about his story.

The stories are amazing I missed the draft by one day and missed the whole thing but had many family members who were there and the their stories are memorable. Keep up the great work.

This program centers on veterans' experiences from the Vietnam era, blending first-person narratives with historical context and current reflections. Episodes frequently explore rescue missions, valorous acts, post-war recovery, diaspora stories, and evolving U.S.–Vietnam relations, often framed through in-depth interviews, archival pieces, and book discussions. A standout trait is its sustained focus on honoring service members while connecting past events to present-day culture, education, and community memory. A potential standout for listeners and sponsors is the consistent emphasis on personal storytelling from veterans, historians, and collaborators that illuminate the war's long tail on families, communities, and public memory.
