  • Excellent series

Excellent speaker series and the quality has improved. Release of new podcasts comes in bursts. Often the lectures refer to graphics which are NOT linked in the podcast. I feel that there are some insightful questions asked by audience in the q&a section at the end of each episode.

  • What history means today...

Wide-ranging with excellent scholarship, yet an approachable format for the civilian.

More than reciting dates, this 'cast relates how we got here by exposing the roots.

Recommend for more than Army, more than history, provides surprising glimpses into many of today's issues.

Because the past is never past, just prelude to the present.

History as a Strategic Tool: How to Understand Europe Today
Q: What is your perspective on the Mearsheimer argument about NATO expansion post-Soviet collapse?
Mearsheimer argues that NATO's expansion has been counterproductive, but I believe that if the Baltic states weren't part of NATO, they would now be part of Russia.
The Fate of the Day: The War for American, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780
Q: Why do you write history books?
Atkinson writes history books because he believes that the war is front and center to understand the creation of the United States and that if you don't win the war, you can't build the republic.
Washingtonburg Arsenal and its Role in Military Manufacturing in the American Revolution
Q: How did the Commissary Department interact with philanthropic efforts by women during the war?
Philanthropic efforts were mostly handled privately and not formally overseen by military entities, often with individuals trying to connect with government needs being turned away.

The arsenal was theoretically shut down in 1782 but is believed to have been utilized in some capacity even after. It became a supply depot and a critical logistics center in subsequent conflicts.
