  • School of Battle, War & Peace

We can win the existential battles & wars - Civil War & WWII.

    Korea was a tie.

We do not have a bipartisan national grand strategy for non-existential wars. Which shows our bad record of winning all the battles but losing the war (& peace): WWI, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq…Iran?

We excel in the military part of diMe, but the M without coordination with the other elements d, i & e of national power, is not enough to win the war.

We need to excel at the 3 other elements of national power - d... more

  • Interesting Conversations, Insanely Hawkish

Compared to other podcasts that discuss defense related issues, the guests of this show seem to always advocate for maximalist approaches that advocate for use of force as a solution to almost all problems. It’s a lot of knowledgae and interesting conversation underscored by a bevy of assumptions and ideology that feels very black and white. Worth a listen, but take everything with a grain of salt.

  • Great show

Yeah, they’re great show, but Jake Sullivan is not worth listening to. He does not understand how to deal with Iran and he got to prove that for a long time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Start-Up Spirit Behind America's Founding, with Arthur Herman
Q: How do you define founder in both historical and modern contexts?
Founders are visionaries who pursue big, transformative goals with a willingness to take risks and act decisively, whether shaping a nation or building a company; the common thread is a bias toward action and a drive to actualize a mission.
Why a Weakened Iran Remains Dangerous, with Behnam Ben Taleblu
Q: Behnam, where do you think the best paths forward are for American and Israeli policymakers given this changing equation?
The guest cautions against maximalist regime change but suggests strategies like maximum economic pressure, leveraging internal divisions within Iran, and pursuing a calibrated mix of deterrence and diplomacy to constrain Iran's capabilities while offering the regime incentives to negotiate rather than escalate.
Why a Weakened Iran Remains Dangerous, with Behnam Ben Taleblu
Q: Got it. what has changed here under the sun compared to previous Iranian strikes against Israel?
Behnam explains that Iran has extended its missile cover to proxies, engaged in more public, not just covert activities, and used ballistic missiles in a way that broadens the arena of conflict. He notes a shift from targeting military facilities to attempting to hit civilian centers and a broader integration of proxies into strategic calculations, signaling a new, higher-stakes dynamic.
Reading Trump’s Iran Deal So You Don’t Have To, with Mark Dubowitz
Q: How does the MOU affect shipping through the Strait of Hormuz?
The hosts describe the MOU as effectively lifting the blockade and allowing Iranian control over toll-like payments for 60 days, which Dubowitz argues is a significant concession that could be misused after the period ends.
Reading Trump’s Iran Deal So You Don’t Have To, with Mark Dubowitz
Q: What is the timeline for negotiating the final deal?
The hosts discuss the 60-day target as unrealistic and suggest a five-month window may be more feasible, implying extended sanctions relief and leverage for Iran.
