America doesn't want amnesty. Those who have, or are related to, those who have immigrated (and later naturalized) through the legal immigration process (which involves many many years and not a small amount of money) are opposed to rewarding illegal aliens for violating the immigration laws that have been followed by millions of legal immigrants.
Great discussion as ever.
Tyler Cowen’s profile of Trump was spot on. Very unusually Sir Niall seemed a little rattled.
While some of the guests on this show, such as Frank Dikotter and Stephen Kotkin, are well worth listening to, two of the three main protagonists are conceited bores (John Cochran, HR McMaster) while even Niall Ferguson, who could never be accused of being dull, is in full Quisling mode, sucking up to his American paymasters and sneering at his fellow Europeans. A small and suffocating right-wing echo chamber with little compassion or imagination in evidence.
Intellectual dishonesty on full display
Trump sycophants veiled in tankie analysis now. By the way I protest what Israel is currently doing because the USA supports them. I support any people protesting for democracy, but it is not my duty to protest the Iranian government…but my own government. These guys think presidents can just do anything as long as it is in furtherance of American empire…humanitarianism is dead
