  • Very Empowering Podcast

Thank you so much for this podcast that gives practical information and hope. I recently listened to episode 57 with Dr. Emily Warren on pain, and was encouraged once again. I’ve been seen Emily for several months now, and everything she talks about in the podcast is what we have been working on in terms of pain and it’s been so helpful. I’m so grateful for this podcast that Mallorie has produced that continues to inform us about our bodies, our hormones, and the power we have to help ourselves!... more

Episode 91: Building the Bridge: Conventional Medicine Meets Holistic Healing with Dr. Molly Gilbert
Q: Can you explain how the integrative approach changes patient care, using PCOS as an example?
In conventional care, PCOS is treated with birth control, spironolactone, some metformin, and energy may be spent on symptom control. In the integrative approach, emphasis is on lifestyle, nutrition, inflammation, and comprehensive lab work to understand insulin resistance and metabolic health, with a tailored plan that may include medications but also dietary changes, gut health, and stress management to improve overall function.
Episode 91: Building the Bridge: Conventional Medicine Meets Holistic Healing with Dr. Molly Gilbert
Q: What gaps did you notice in residency and why did you start seeking a broader approach?
There was a lack of depth in addressing chronic symptoms like fatigue and the perimenopause spectrum, with care often stopping at birth control pills or hormone prescriptions. Doctors couldn't always send patients to the right specialists, and insurance and time constraints prevented deeper exploration. This motivated a shift toward integrative, whole-woman care.
Episode 91: Building the Bridge: Conventional Medicine Meets Holistic Healing with Dr. Molly Gilbert
Q: Tell us about your training as an OB/GYN and what you felt you were good at in your conventional practice.
Training focused on hospital care, labor and delivery, preeclampsia, diabetes in pregnancy, and surgical skills. Education around pregnancy was solid, and surgical training was extensive, particularly with complex removals, IUDs, and gynecologic procedures. However, there was limited emphasis on holistic, longitudinal care, understanding the full menstrual cycle, and addressing broader metabolic and lifestyle factors.
Episode 88: From Rock Bottom to Real Healing with Karalynne Call from Just Ingredients
Q: What have you found to be the most important ingredient in life?
Trust has been essential; I learned to trust God through my journey with Just Ingredients.
Episode 88: From Rock Bottom to Real Healing with Karalynne Call from Just Ingredients
Q: Will you take us back there and share with us, what was that like in those lowest points?
In my darkest points, I felt I was two seconds away from not being here and realized I had hit rock bottom, which pushed me to seek help.
