Love the podcast but started noticing Payne taking on more and more projects and feeling like a sell out. Kept promising episodes to be released weekly or on time and then disappears for long periods with no explanations. Also some episodes feel like a time waster to stall. Disappointed
Well done. Listening to so many true crime podcasts teaches that cops, prosecutors and judges are often incompetent or malicious. This is the second one that’s depicted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as both.
I generally like this show but in this latest season, I’m having such a hard time following some of the interviews, not because of the interviewee but because Payne doesn’t stop interrupting them to ask his next question. Let the person finish talking and then ask the follow up.
Fr freaky for real
I’m a very picky podcast listener. But this is a monumental show. Payne has held criminals to account and brought Justice so cold cases, putting a woman’s killer behind bars years after police gave up.
I can’t wait to see how this one ends.
I’m a writer myself, a musician so the audio and levels matter to me a lot. The only drawback I will say is that recent episodes needed the musical accompaniment volume levels dropped a little because they overtook the interview and muddied the mix a bit.

A meticulous true-crime series that follows investigative reporting in real-time, focusing on cold cases and ongoing社区 investigations. Across seasons, the show blends documentary storytelling with updates on investigations, family perspectives, and ethical questions around publishing sensitive material. Notable is the sustained emphasis on long-form case work, accountability, and the human stakes behind missing persons, with occasional crossovers and spin-offs that widen the investigative universe.
Recent seasons have highlighted small-town dynamics, Native communities, and complex family narratives, while maintaining a knack for revisiting previously unsolved cases with fresh evidence or new angles. A standout aspect is the host's commitm... more
