  • Eric Incredible/Matt Terrible

This podcast is extremely balanced. Eric has really thoughtful commentary and really incredible takes, while Matt will just spew out any unintelligible thought that pops into his head with the absolute worst taste you've ever heard of. Keep the show alive Eric!!! You got this

  • Generally good

I enjoy this podcast, but I wish the audio quality was better. I’m constantly hearing wind and sirens. Also, the phrase “the ____ of it all” is overused.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

No Other Choice (Guests: Park Chan-wook & Lee Byung-hun) | Interview
Q: How important is tone when developing a script, whether it's an adaptation or an original idea, and do you think about tone in the script phase?
Tone and rhythm are central: tone is ambiguous yet crucial, and rhythm helps define how the story unfolds; both are shaped through extensive pre-production conversations with co-writers, cast, and department heads, and they inform how the script is written and how scenes are planned for editing.
Honey Bunch (Guests: Madeleine Sims-Fewer, Dusty Mancinelli, Ben Petrie & Grace Glowicki) | Interview
Q: What changes did you start to notice as you were shooting it to post-production, and how did you guide the performance in a non-scripted way?
They describe presenting the movie to actors before a formal script, using the performance as a living guide, and allowing the film's tone to evolve in post through collaborative exploration and genuine emotional feedback.
Honey Bunch (Guests: Madeleine Sims-Fewer, Dusty Mancinelli, Ben Petrie & Grace Glowicki) | Interview
Q: When you're approaching your next project, how similar or different are you thinking about what it's going to be tonally versus your last project?
The guests explain they aim for a tonal balance that allows for variation within cohesion, drawing on past experiences with Violation to inform how they want Honey Bunch to feel—playful, strange, and emotionally true without being reducible to a single genre.
Two People Exchanging Saliva (Guests: Natalie Musteata and Alexandre Singh) | Interview
Q: Do you look to any filmmakers without a traditional background in the medium for inspiration, whether it be for the film or just your own interest in terms of seeing someone's trajectory as a filmmaker?
They cite artists and filmmakers from outside traditional film paths, like Steve McQueen, Julian Schnabel, Ridley Scott, and others who transitioned from painting or design, highlighting how cross-disciplinary perspectives can inform structure, emotion, and narrative in cinema.
Crime 101 (Guest: Bart Layton) | Interview
Q: How do you ground high-energy sequences like car chases in reality to keep them believable and engaging for the audience?
You emphasize practical details and the audience's sensory experience—inside the car with the driver, reacting with adrenaline—so the sequence feels immediate and emotionally true rather than purely stylized.
