  • Please Give This A Chance

Professor Sturgill does an excellent job of exploring media ethics and newsmaker spin. The world is much more complex than many people are willing to acknowledge. Too many of us condemn what we haven’t even begun to understand. I have a plea for everyone on this planet. Please listen to this podcast and keep your mind open. Whether or not you agree with everything Professor Sturgill says, she raises questions that too many people haven’t even begun to consider.

No, the media was not ready for this asymmetry in lying and continues to struggle with it.
The Fabled First Amendment
Q: When does freedom of speech cross to incitement?
There is a legal test (Brandenburg Test) determining if speech is incitement, assessing both intent and the likelihood of producing imminent lawless action.
The Fabled First Amendment

The Fabled First Amendment
Q: Is misinformation still protected speech?
Yes, misinformation is often still protected under the First Amendment as long as it does not meet conditions for incitement or other exceptions.
