Childermass' actor was also seen in last season's GOT as Yezzan. I think Segundus and Honeyfoot believed Mr Norrell's claim to be a tolerable, practical magician because from what they have witnessed in Hurtfew. From what I recall, the halls leading to the library were ever changing and a bit confusing like a maze. They couldn't remember any of the books title or authors they've seen.
