History is full of stories we think we know. They are old and dark, but time has robbed us of perspective and clarity. They've become obscured and misunderstood. Which is why this series exists: to dig deep and shed light on some of history’s darkest moments. To help us better understand where we’ve come from. To make it Unobscured. Each season pairs narrative storytelling from Aaron Mahnke, creator of the hit podcast Lore, with prominent historian interviews. Season Four: Grigori Rasputin

  • Best Way to Feel Connected to History

Aaron has nailed the perfect combination of historical accuracy and storytelling. He tells us of historical events, not just as dates and places, but as stories that connect us to the past, and help us see the people as human beings that think and feel instead of names to be memorized without passion or interest. more

  • Excellent.

I’ve listened to every season but this latest season about Rasputin really is my favorite. I was born in Russia and moved to the states @ the age of 10, a few years after communism fell in 1991. My hometown is Ekaterinburg which is where Tsar Nicholas & his family were gunned down by the Bolsheviks in 1917. I grew up knowing stories about Rasputin and the last royal family of my home country but this is the most in depth study of him and the Tsar I’ve ever heard. Thank you Aaron for always deli... more
