  • Victim narrative

Yonit’s self pity at the start of every episode nowadays is insufferable and an insult to the real victims of this “war”

  • Review for latest Episode only !!! March 10 with Ali Ansari

Ive been a loyal Listener of Unholy’s nuanced take on Israel and the Jewish world. Especially post Oct 7.This episode with Ali Ansari was one sided ,bias, accusatory of Israel and very disappointing !!! Your guest downplayed Iran’s threat and unfairly criticized Israel and the US . I was surprised and disappointed that Yonit which I highly respect didn’t ask any tough questions. Please note that this a bad review for only this episode not for the entire podcast that I love!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Future is Peace - with Maoz Inon and Aziz Abu Sarah
Q: You set out this beautiful vision that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will end; what promise do you offer Israelis to take the risk of talking and understanding the other side when Hamas followed with such violence after October 7th?
We acknowledge the fear and the reality on the ground, but argue that without dialogue and empathy we perpetuate a cycle of violence; peace is possible because people from both sides have chosen empathy, and the book provides lived examples and a path forward through dialogue, not denial. The goal is to show that reconciliation is possible even after deep trauma.
Iran War: What Comes Next - with Dr Suzanne Maloney
Q: What is the state of the Iranian opposition and could protests re-emerge after the war?
The opposition faced severe crackdowns during the war, with ongoing repression at home; diaspora movements have had mixed influence, making a near-term uprising less likely despite external pressures.
Iran War: What Comes Next - with Dr Suzanne Maloney
Q: Can the Strait of Hormuz be opened by force, and what would Iran do in response?
The guest explains that while some military options exist, a broad, durable solution would require diplomatic arrangements; Iran would likely respond with contested traffic and strategic counters that complicate any purely military solution.
Iran War: What Comes Next - with Dr Suzanne Maloney
Q: What went wrong in this 40-day war?
Dr. Maloney argues that the core miscalculation was a belief that quick, decisive force could deliver a victory or rapid regime change, underestimating Iran's resilience and the domestic and regional factors that would sustain the regime even under pressure.
Independence, food and a response to Ezra Klein - with special guest Adeena Sussman
Q: What does the Independence Day celebration look like this year in wartime, and how does that shape public mood?
The hosts describe a divided mood, with alternative ceremonies signaling a split in national sentiment and debates about leadership and policy influencing how people feel about the future.
