  • America’s war, not Israel’s

Excellent and somewhat novel take on the current round of hostilities (to put it mildly) between Israel and Iran. The theory that Iran, like Venezuela before it, is but a piece in the puzzle to bring to heel potential (or actual) Chinese global dominance runs on rails. It just so happens that Israel has its own interest in seeing the end of Iran as an irredentist Islamic Republic. Great episode of an overall great podcast. But note to Haviv: if everything is “profound” or “fundamental”, then not... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 97: Can America and Israel finish the job? A conversation with John Spencer.
Q: How is the war progressing from an American view?
The guest argues that while several goals are being pursued, success should be measured against stated objectives rather than single metrics like oil flow or battlefield gains; the alliance is reducing Iranian capabilities and establishing a safer regional balance, albeit with uncertainty about timelines and political will.
Episode 88: America's "24% problem" with young antisemitism, with Jonah Platt
Q: How do we get young people engaged in Jewish life?
It involves making cultural events appealing and ensuring Jewish experiences are relevant and engaging.
Episode 88: America's "24% problem" with young antisemitism, with Jonah Platt
Q: What made you start in October 2024, a podcast called Being Jewish?
I felt something was missing after October 7th, 2023, and wanted to create a space to discuss important issues for Jews.
Episode 81: Israel's future and the ticking Gaza clock, with Andrew Fox
Q: Why is returning to war in Gaza a terrible idea?
It's unlikely to achieve disarmament of Hamas and would lead to unnecessary devastation and international condemnation, complicating Israel's situation further.
Episode 81: Israel's future and the ticking Gaza clock, with Andrew Fox
Q: What do you mean the clock is running out? And what kind of dangers does Israel face?
Israel faces various geopolitical threats which are currently understated, but the constant pressure from time and international opinion is detrimental to its long-term security, particularly with relations with the US shifting.
